Frequently Asked Questions

Mental Fitness Challenges

About the Challenge:

Q: What is the Mental Fitness Challenge?
A: A Mental Fitness Challenge is a dedicated time for your company to practice mindfulness together, instilling a sense of community, competition, and camaraderie while working to build a sustainable mindfulness routine at work. All employees with a company email address receive free premium access to the Wise@Work App throughout the month of the challenge with a goal of completing at least 20 practices and forming a workplace mindfulness habit.

Q: What happens during a challenge? What is a mindfulness challenge?
A: Participants explore short, work-focused practices using the Wise@Work App on their smartphone at any point during their day. Each completed session is recorded in a user’s profile as they progress toward their goal. Both the number of sessions practiced and their Streak (consecutive days practiced) are listed in the in-app Leaderboard in the Profile tab of the app.

Q How does my company host a challenge?
A: An HR leader or other senior representative signs up to serve as Challenge Leader. They receive tools and continuous guidance to empower their team all month long. Challenge Leaders also receive access to an online App Usage & Engagement Dashboard that tracks their team’s progress anonymously by aggregating employee self-assessments, displaying popular sessions, and recording how many of their team members met the overall goal of 20 practices.

Q Who can join a challenge?
A: Challenges are available to first-time participating organizations and current Wisdom Labs customers. Click here to get involved in future challenges or contact sales@wisdomlabs.com for information on a Corporate Wise@Work subscription for your company.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Participation in the Challenge is free! There are no costs, contracts, or automatic subscriptions to cancel. After a challenge ends, your team’s free Wise@Work App access will continue for 2 weeks, allowing you to evaluate a potential corporate subscription. If you decide not to pursue that, all user accounts will be downgraded to the free version of the app with limited content and your dashboard access will be discontinued.

Q: What do I get for participating?
A: A free, easy-to-use internal offering that provides a baseline assessment of your employee’s mental wellbeing and a chance to kick-off (or bolster) ongoing employee mental wellness support. We’ll also go over your team’s results in a Data Insights session after your challenge ends, helping you demonstrate the value of a workplace mindfulness program!

Participating in a Challenge:

Q: How do employees join their company’s challenge?
A: Download Wise@Work on your smartphone via Google Play or the App Store and create a free account using their work email address. You should see a reminder to join your company’s challenge within a two-week period before the start of the event. Opt-in when prompted, and complete the brief onboarding assessment to customize your app experience!

Q: How will my employees know the challenge has started?
A: We’ll provide you with communication templates and content to help share the event internally. Participants will also receive a pop-up on their Wise@Work App prompting them to join. Any Wise@Work user can check their challenge status in the Profile tab of their Wise@Work App.

Q: What if someone doesn’t want to join a challenge. Can they still use the app?
A: Yes. Employees at participating companies can choose not to opt into the challenge if they wish. If they change their mind, they can click the challenge banner in their Profile tab to opt-in later.

Q: How do participants track their progress?
A: The Wise@Work App automatically records minutes, sessions toward your goal, streaks (days practiced in a row), and more on an individual basis. This individual information will be in the Profile tab of the app. Challenge Leaders can find aggregate company data in their online Engagement Dashboard.

Q: Can participants log more than one session per day toward their challenge goal?
A: Yes! You can practice as much as you want each day, however, only five practices per day will count towards your challenge goal.

Q: Can participants log an unguided or timed meditation toward their goal?
A: Yes. Select the Situation tab from the bottom menu and scroll down to “Unguided Practices” for a custom-length silent meditation. Or, choose one of three ambient sounds!

Q: Can someone join the challenge after the start date?
A: Participants can join an ongoing challenge any time before the final week.

Q: When does a challenge begin?
A: Challenges are hosted on Pacific Time (GMT-8), with days beginning and ending at midnight. Start and end dates are chosen ahead of each event and typically coincide with a single month.

Q: How do prizes and employee incentives work?
A: We strongly encourage Challenge Leaders to offer and advertise prizes for their employees. Wisdom Labs does not offer any prizes. After a challenge ends, a randomized list of participant emails can be downloaded from the Engagement Dashboard, letting the Challenge Leader know which team members met their 20-practice goal.

Q: Can individuals take the challenge?
A: Only as a member of a participating organization. However, individuals are welcome to Try Wise@Work for Free!

Q: Will Wisdom Labs market to my employees?
A: No. Employees who join your challenge will only receive correspondence related to setting up their Wise@Work account (ex: email verification) and customer support. We will not ask your challenge participants to purchase individual subscriptions, nor will they be required to take any steps to prevent automatic enrollment. You, as the Challenge Leader, will be the one communicating with your team members, supported by email templates we provide.

Q: What if a participant is concerned about privacy?
A: Challenge Leaders do not have access to individual user data including assessment scores and specific details about their individual practice history. All data is provided in aggregate to the challenge leaders to ensure privacy is protected. Additionally, employees can choose an anonymous name when joining their company challenge to ensure they cannot be identified by colleagues on the in-app Leaderboard. The only individual data shared with the employer is 1) a list of challenge participants, and 2) a list of challenge winners (those who completed 20 or more sessions).

Q: How will my data be handled with regard to the challenge?
A: We take concerns about data and privacy seriously. Please refer to the Wisdom Labs Privacy Policy for details.
